Beginnings are hard…
And exciting, and excruciating, and anxiety-provoking, and they spawn butterflies in the stomach: that giddy excitement. Let’s start!
Why this, why now?
I’ve been a writer for many years, and the most personal and revealing projects have been the ones that connected most with readers. I, too, appreciate when authors reveal their experiences that so closely resemble my own. So, what’s my experience? I’ve struggled with mental illness, mainly depression, for most of my life. I am always searching for moments of sunshine amid the clouds. I believe others do, too.
Here, we will create our own Happy Cloud, a cloud that doesn’t block the light but rather refracts it in interesting ways. Embrace the cloud!
A community of thinkers
When I struggle to quiet my mind, I find reprieve by being present, noticing, pausing. Simple sensory details that jolt me out of overthinking include warbly birdsong, adventurous food, striking public art, city lights, a single shell on a stretch of beach. I also embrace the weird: sauna workouts, sarcastic comedy, screaming grunge music, anchovies, and dreams of owning a Porsche 356. What do you do?
Let’s be ourselves, share ourselves, celebrate ourselves.
Everything!
Posts will include art, music, authors, food(!), and ordinary musings about everything and nothing. Looking forward to where this journey takes us.
